Do you ever judge a book by its cover?

Know how they say never judge a book by its cover,well do you judge a book by its cover?

I think we all do. If we didn't then covers would just have the authors name and the title of the book. Of course a cover sells a book and in years to come collectors will pay good money for good cover art.

It helps to attract me somewhat to the book for sure...But I always read what it's about; And if that doesn't catch my interest, I don't care how nice the cover art is, I'm not wasting my time...just like with people.

I think, for the most part though, the two usually mesh pretty well.

If it says "Tom Clancy" on the cover I see it as not worth reading.
He farts out books at an astonishing rate and none of them have ever had a message that stuck with me.

if i am looking for a new author to read, i judge a book by it's cover, because the book cover will catch my eye. like a movie poster, the gimmack to draw you in to see the movie, like a book's cover, if the book is not interesting look at why would you want to read it. i usually read the back or the inside cover of the book to seal the deal. if i like the storyline, i will buy the book. the answer is normally i don't judge a book by the cover, because you don't look inside, you miss something good.

Back when I was running around picking up books on various religious philosophies I never picked up Levay's because as curious as I was I didn't want to look like a goofball slapping it down the counter.

Sometimes. That's why I don't tend to go to shops to buy books anymore, I always end up spending loads on books that really aren't worth the money.

Sometimes. A fried has recommended a series of books to me, but the covers look like something from Mills and Boon so I haven't bought them because I'll look like a t***...waiting for my Kindle

When I was little the Terry Pratchett covers scared me, so I refused to read them, thinking they'd be terrible. Obviously I was WRONG!

Yes: if the name of the author is in larger font than the title, I generally expect it to be bad.

Not so long ago i'd have said no to this question but I have recently noticed I do tend to select books with a particular coloured cover more times than it can be passed off as totally random.

Judge books by their covers and assume "Out of my league" us guys miss out on all the tender kisses and hugs from the many voluptuous blonde angels running around out there.

Sorry can't quite tell if we were going for literal, philosophical or both.
