What else would he have said - given the public outcry AND the fact that he allowed the vote in the first place.

You don't understand Church votes, apparently. If they're like every other church I've ever been to (probably, since they're Protestant too), the Congregation (or more usually, the deacons/church elders) can hold a vote on anything. Obviously, like what happened here, the pastor can veto it if it's bad theology, but he doesn't have an iron-grip in everything the Church does.

Basically, what he said. In the Christian Church I used to belong to, we had a Congregational chairman who would run the church meetings where things would be voted on. He wasn't a deacon or an elder, he was elected by the congregation.

Deacons are in charge of money and practical matters, Elders are in charge of spiritual matters and the chairman was in charge of the voting and meetings.

Something like this church?
"Many who joined the church under Long's tenure were attracted to the prosperity gospel that he preached and practiced. It was a message that mirrored an emerging black middle class in and around Atlanta. Unlike the traditional Southern Baptist preacher, Long owned a $350,000 Bentley and private jet, lived in a $1.4 million house with six bedrooms and nine bathrooms, adorned himself with diamond jewelry and read his sermons on an iPad."

At that church? Beats me.

At the Christian Church I was talking about? Umm...that was a good 15 years ago and I didn't attend all of the Congregational Meetings (I was a teenager and not a voting member of the church), but I do recall they would vote on things like whether or not they were going to raise funds for new carpet and the election of the elders/deacons.

Entire churches have split over the results of congregational voting. The one I'm talking about did.

Anger? Knee-jerk reactions? Unwarranted hatred of a man we've never met for following church procedure?

You're going to have to be more specific as to which picture you're talking about.

I think its wrong to slam a persons religion no matter what group it is, Catholic, Muslim, Chirsitan etc.

The christian world has been having a dirty side to it and it keeps to want to pass on the can of whom the 666 is.

Who's slamming religion here? I think we're discussing one particular church body.

Prejudicial morals? Slow to change intolerant attitudes? Warranted love of a man we've never met for not stopping a church from taking up a dead wrong procedure?

I think that is pretty specific.

Racist religious zealots!
Church recommendation: That the Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church does not condone interracial marriage. Parties of such marriages will not be received as members, nor will they be used in worship services and other church functions, with the exception being funerals. All are welcome to our public worship services. This recommendation is not intended to judge the salvation of anyone, but is intended to promote greater unity among the church body and the community we serve.

The Gulnare what church? Never heard of it. Wonder how many go to that one every Sunday.

No, it's not specific. What picture are you asking us to look at?

The church?
The media?
Us posting here?
Just specifically me and crazylikeafox posting?

Asking us to analyze a picture without telling us which picture to look at is silly.
