shinobinoz![]() Wichita, Kansas | #1 Racist religious zealots! Church recommendation: That the Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church does not condone interracial marriage. Parties of such marriages will not be received as members, nor will they be used in worship services and other church functions, with the exception being funerals. All are welcome to our public worship services. This recommendation is not intended to judge the salvation of anyone, but is intended to promote greater unity among the church body and the community we serve. link [news.yahoo.com]

| Eaglebauer FOSSOR SAPIENS ![]() Saint Louis, Missouri | #2 Looks like Stella's gonna be looking for a new church to go to. Seriously. Isn't it time we, as a society, got past the whole "races shouldn't mix" bulls***? | ||||||

| someone_else Not a dude. Deleted ![]() American Alps, Washington | #4 That's awfully non-Christian...but let's be a little fairer and represent the story better. That was a recommendation from a pastor who stepped down. The church voted and out of 40 people, only 15 actually cast a vote, 9 in favor and 6 against ( I'm actually interested in those 25 who didn't vote at all. There seems to be a lack of conviction one way or the other. Fortunately, it's a tiny church so even if they did decide to ban interracial couples from being active, serving members, it's not like it would have a huge impact on anything...except to maybe disband the church. That wouldn't have a huge impact on anything either though. | ||||||

Fairer in the OP. You quoted only the former pastor's suggestion and it makes it look like the church issued that statement as a policy, but that's not the case. Not everybody can read the links. That's all.

shinobinoz![]() Wichita, Kansas | #12 @someone_else Said ![]() ![]() I have a feeling that the Zimbabwean man would have been the only black member. The article says the county is 98% white and the church being only 40 people...what are the odds? With the rest of the community opposing the decision, I think either the church will dismiss the suggestion or the 31 people will leave. Then it will be a cult. Most likely & deservedly so it appears.

shinobinoz![]() Wichita, Kansas | #13 Stacy Stepp, who is pastor of the Gulnare Free Will Baptist Church in Pike County, told the Lexington Herald-Leader on Saturday that he plans to declare the vote approving the policy null and void. link [news.yahoo.com]

shinobinoz![]() Wichita, Kansas | #15 I don't know why, but it does not seem sincere - seems null & void because not enough voted on the issue, not that the issue was wrong!
