I really need to know it thank you in advance By 12k, do you mean Kindergarten through 12th grade? I'm only asking for clarification because I've never heard of 12k. I was not taught sociology at all, but I graduated in the mid 90's. Since it is usually a college level class, I think that it would be taught as an Advanced Placement course so...probably between 10th and 12th grade. | ||||||

I never took sociology myself, but someone was recently describing "social studies" to me and it didn't sound anything like what my social studies classes were like. | ||||||

Where I went to school ‘social studies’ was general subject that included but was not limited to sociology. It may be different in other places. Humanities might have been a better term. | ||||||

I looked it up on wiki this morning before I posted, but it was too wordy. Looking up the definition made far more sense. So I guess we learn sociology without being told that we're learning sociology.  | ||||||

But it was a small school system that had to do as much as they could with what they had. | ||||||

alk1975 Jackson, Missouri | #10 Dec 04, 2011 @ 22:31:05I took sociology in high school as an elective course. It is different than "social studies" and is more similar to psychology. Not all schools offer it in highschool but some do. There was not a specific grade to take it. It was available from 9th-12th grade in my school. | ||||||
