I've noticed each time I drink anything alcoholic, 3 drinks tops at the most, the soles of my feet get very itchy.

Anyone else ever hear of this? Is this an indication of something?
It only happens when I drink alcoholic drinks; Never candy, cakes, or anything else sugary.

Do you think it could be an allergy of some sort?

I dunno. I suppose it could; but I'd imagine if that were the case it would be throughout my body?

It's just very strange, and I was wondering if anyone else ever heard of it.

The very first time it happened, I thought I had atheletes foot. (I've never had in my life, so didn't know how it felt for sure.) But then noticed it happens everytime, and only when I drink alcohol....they itch like mad!

The only thing I've found so far that doesn't say allergies, is a response to a similar question on another site. The person said it might have something to do with elevated blood sugar, kind of a pre-diabetes thing. This was based on his/her own experience with it and having no problems once his/her glucose was under control.

Granted, as that's only one person's experience, allergies sound much more likely to me, though it's odd that they would show up in only your feet

That was my first thought too, diabetes; but wanted to hear what others had to say first.
If that was the case though, it would happen when I eat sweets too, I'd think.
Ugh...just thinking out loud here now...

Mayo Clinic lists these as symptoms of alcohol intolerance:

Nasal congestion
Warm, red, itchy skin
Worsening of pre-existing asthma
Runny or stuffy nose
Headache
Rapid heartbeat
Nausea
Vomiting
Heartburn
Abdominal pain

But given your post the other day about watching out for diabetes, I'd say don't shrug this off and check with your doctor just in case.

I have heard of this. I have seen 2 cases of the hands.

In both cases they had an underlying urticaria without any trigger identified. Alcohol exacerbated the condition.

Chances are the skin on your feet are being irritated by something else but when you use alcohol it is made worse.

Hey i was looking up additional info and came across this conversation. I am 36. In my early 20s, the next day after id been drinking the whole right or the whole left side of my body ached. Horribly. In my late 20s early 30s, i noticed when i drank my feet would itch. It quickly moved to my ankles and lower legs. Id scractch in my sleep so bad id bleed and wouldnt know it till mornin. Now, after even a sip, my legs break out in hives and its the most excruciating feeling cz short of benedryl and benedryl cream theres nothin to do but wait. The hives reaction happend today for the first time. It is an allergy. Not sure to what, but i drink kendal jackson chardonay, crown, and capt morgan, vodka. All high end. And it happens w each one...oh and tequilla...i read years ago was a systemic reaction. But im sayin im just full blown allergic to alcohol. It scared me today. I was in tears and was begging for a hospital to make the itching stop. 1/2 glass of wine. All it took. I was an hr from home ...if u hv these symptoms, i suggest no drinking. Only cz i thought it was fine and that i knew my body. Todsy was new, scary, and the end of all alcohol for me. Be careful always keep benedryl on u and maybe check into an epi pen
