Well by now most of TFS knows about the floods and the Damage done.
People from all over the country have donated Food,Clothing, anything they can spare to help these poor people,as well as raising over $4,000,000 in cash donations.
It's times like this that make me Proud to be an Aussie even our b**** of of a Prime Minister is doing her bit to help out.

By introducing a Flood Levy Tax that every Australian will have to pay from anywhere between $20 to $100 a week ,depending on how much your earn so instead of people giving what they can spare?the Government will be able to say what a good job they did for the Victims.

Now isn't that really big of her??,as if we aren't already taxed enough and Bled Dry big Corporations for their personal gain.

Julia?? you just put the last nail in you Coffin come election time

I'd be happy to pay a one off tax tbh, $4m is good but the floods did like $5bn worth of damage.

$4m won't go far.

Very true, but to tax a country that is already hurting with other taxes and rising prices is ridiculous.

Electricity went up some thing like 200% not long ago, many who are doing it really tough have had it turned off.

When you think they either Eat or pay a power bill, the food comes first.

Do you think iot would be a good idea to stop the insurance company's from Screaming ACT OF GOD every time they feel like it??,they willingly take peoples money even though they may live in a flood zone, and scream that every time there's a flood.
I don't know about you,but I see that as theft or Fraud eithr way they are taking money under false pretences.

Yes insurance companies helping would be ideal but we both know they're not going to pay up $4.6bn. I guess the PM knows that too or she wouldn't have put the emergency tax measure into force.

Don't you guys have flood insurance over there? Here if you live in a flood plain you are required to have it. Now if you don't have flood insurance and get flooded 'it's an act of god' too. But the point is that is available/required for the high risk areas. Although I think it's run by the government, but since it's been in place for so long there's no raising of taxes for it every time an area gets flooded.
someone correct me if Im' wrong.

That's bulls*** your country is doing that!

Yes Plebi people do pay flood insurance, but that still doesn't stop the insurance company's.Believe it or not but there are still people down in Victoria waiting for their money to come through from the Bush Fires 2 yrs ago.

its probably the wrong thing to say... but Australia is extremely generous when it comes to disaster relief to other countries. So much so that when it faces its own disaster the pot is empty.
