Alien Abduction..

So, I just returned from the movies with a friend. The movie we saw was called, "The Fourth Kind". I'm not going to go too deep into details about the plot, we can just say that it had alot to do with alien contact/abductions. (It also scared the ever-living s*** outta me, and is apparantly, wayy better than "Paranormal Activity" )

My question(s) to you guys is this:

Do you believe in aliens/extraterrestials?

Do you think they have tried to make contact before?

If you have heard of any alien abduction stories/testimonies, why do you think they have taken humans, and returned them?

To see what we are like.

Im ever the sceptic, my thoughts are... If aliens did exist they would have shown themselves by now, and if they didn't want us to know they were here then surely they wouldn't abduct people then send them back to tell everyone Just my thoughts.

Believe me Karma, I'm a very skeptical person as well. But, what if, like MartianLeader (how ironic) said, they just wanted to see what we were like? Maybe they have attempted to show themselves to us before.. I dunno, just trying the gain a new perspective..

I know what your saying, I guess its one of those things for me that I have to see to believe, you hear stories some from pilots who you expect to be "on the ball" and wonder if there is any truth in it, but but like I said I'm a seeing is believing kind of person, but I'm not narrow minded enough to dismiss it altogether so I'll sit on the fence and watch this thread, you never know I might see something that sits well with me.

If you can find it read Chariots of the Gods. It has a lot of information there that might help with some 'questions'. And here is another question just to consider. You travel thousands (their case millions) of miles to a foreign country to a tribe that is at least 400 years behind you. Would they find you as a God, a threat, or at worst a meal? Bear in mind you don't speak their language or know anything about them before getting there.

So what do you guys make of crop cirlces? UFO's? Natural phenomenons? Or "the unexplained"?

Didn't the Aztecs think of the Spanish conquistadors as gods? They welcomed them with open arms, offering sacrifices and banquets in their name. But, compared to now, things are (obviously) very different. Then, everyone believed in the popular religion in the area, now, everyone believes very differently. Would I personally think of them as gods? No, because I don't believe that way. Would I think of them as a threat? Possibly, depends on their first move. Would I think they'd try to eat me? Hell, as you said, I no nothing about them. For all I know (which is nothing) they could find humans as tasty little snacks!

My thoughts on extra-terrestial life is this:

Yes, I believe there is 'life' beyond Earth.

Good grief no .. hopefully Earthlings are the ones to discover 'them' .. otherwise we are screwed!

I agree on the last part! We'd need every advantage we could get if we ever encounter aliens!

I like your thinking ... if they find us .. then it probably means they have superior technology .. if their intentions are not peaceful, then we're screwed!

Humans have proved themselves to be parasites .. why would any other culture accept us unless we were able to make them submit?

s***, if they are travelling billion/trillion/bagillion miles, then they hands down, have the upper-hand and superior tech/intelligence. They'd only accept us to make us submit to them..then talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place!

There is no rock .. if ever they visit us before we visit them .. then we have to kill them all .. let them know that Earth is not a place to be visited but a place to be feared. Then we have to find where they're from and conquer it!
