I watched another repeat tonight, whilst ironing (I lead a highly moving and shaking life). I wish I had the imagination (not to mention the money) to build something so beautiful. Anybody else interested in architecture?

I'm not interested that much in architecture but for some reason I bloody love Grand Designs. Some of the houses that get built on that show are truly amazing, and that Kevin McCloud chap is rather funny too.

I love that programme!

I would love to design my own house (with the help of an architect of course ) I'd really love to do a self build too!

From a Grand Designs Facebook Group forum post:

Play the Grand Designs Drinking Game!
rules - open at least one bottle of wine and drink when:

-Kevin points out a mistake in the design and is ultimately proved right at build phase.

-Kevin helps out with a language barrier.

-There's a dispute involving plans.

-Weather Damage.

-The house a- gets a roof and b- is water tight.

-Windows don't fit.

-Kevin compares their build to a commercial building (eg supermarket).

-Every time someone talks about "Space" and "Integrity" in abstract terms.

- I think you should add:

-When he mentions a designers name or someone we have never heard of. Particularly of the Avant Garde or Bijoux variety.

-When he drives his 4 wheel drive up a muddy lane.

-When they have to dig a trench in the garden for no good reason.

When he is wearing a North Face parka.
-And every time the woman gets pregnant during the build...
and everytime he builds up awsome comments about the building, and then procedes to knock it totally

I guess you'd have to really be in to it to see the humour but I think it's funny!

I watched some back to back epsidoes of Grand Designs this evening over preparing and eating dinner. A recipy of inspiration, patience, and loads of money. Another art is to make one's more humble home a place you'd like to invite guests to. I'm not sure about simulations so I dream instead!
